
How To Celebrate Flag Day With Your Family
This summer, celebrate Flag Day with entertaining, educational activities for the entire family.
Materials: red striped ribbon, red ribbon, 14-inch wreath, stars ribbon, blue striped ribbon, straight pins, scissors, hot glue gun and glue, skewers and stars
Instructions: Get a 14-inch wreath and wrap 1 1/2-inch red-and-white-stripe ribbon around it. Pin the ribbon with straight pins. Cut eight 10-inch pieces of 3/8-inch red ribbon and wrap them around the wreath. Fold four-inch pieces of 1 1/2-inch blue-and-white-patterned ribbon around one end of each skewer, then hot-glue the ribbon together and cut a triangle out of the tip. Stick the skewers into the foam.
Materials: balloon, red and blue confetti, sharpened pencil
Instructions: Pull a balloon over a funnel. Pour in confetti until balloon is a quarter full and inflate. Use a sharpened pencil for popping. Be sure to supervise children while they are popping balloons.
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
1-1/2 cups cold milk
3 cups fresh strawberries, halved1/2 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions:
Combine flour, pecans, and butter. Press into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
In another bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar. Fold in half of the whipped topping; spread over crust. In a different bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for two minutes.
Add a cream cheese layer. Decorate with strawberries and blueberries to resemble a flag. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
