Maintaining renter’s insurance is critical to cover your personal property in the event of damage occurring from a storm or other causes.
Should your home contain hurricane shutters, those shutters were inherited when we acquired the home (purchased by a prior owner), and therefore we cannot confirm if the shutters cover the entire house nor confirm the shutters are code compliant and safe. Do not rely on these shutters to protect you, your family or your assets. Any existing shutters at the house cannot be maintained, changed or updated by Invitation Homes. Please use good judgment and discretion.
Homeowners Association (HOA)
If your home is part of a Homeowners Association (HOA), please be sure you follow any community specific instructions. This may include, but is not limited to, gate access issues due to electrical or mechanical reasons, evacuation directions, etc.
- Will Residents be charged for damages to their home due to boarding it up or installing hurricane shutters?
We appreciate your efforts to protect your family and property and you will not be charged for any damages incurred in boarding up or shuttering your home.
- Will Invitation Homes find temporary housing for Residents if their home is uninhabitable?
For immediate assistance if the home is uninhabitable temporary housing is a coverage provided through your renter’s insurance. We encourage you to contact them so they can assist in this process. We are making every effort to assess our properties as soon as possible. If the home is uninhabitable we will offer placement in another comparable Invitation Home if one is available.
- Will Invitation Homes be refunding hold-fees or deposits for homes in Florida if the home is damaged?
We will refund any hold fees or deposits and terminate the lease if a home is damaged according to lease terms. That said, we will do everything we can to ensure you are able to move in to the home you have chosen, or if that is not possible, then we will work with you to find you one that is comparable. After our offices are reopened, your local teams will be available to assist you.
